What Is Striped Carpet?
Unlike traditional carpet laid as one large piece, carpet tiles use small units that can be laid and lifted individually, making it easy to replace damaged sections without changing the whole floor.
Advantages Over Traditional Carpet
It offers more flexibility in laying and swapping pieces and produces less waste when cutting than a large roll, and it is easy to take with you when moving home because it is not permanently fixed.
Installation Method
The tiles are laid with a self-locking system or a light double-sided tape, with no permanent glue or complex floor preparation, which also makes them a good fit for rentals and temporary spaces.
Where Is Strip Carpet Used?
Used in bedrooms, home offices and children's rooms, where warmth and sound insulation matter more than water resistance. It is not recommended for kitchens or bathrooms.
Carpet FAQs
Can a single damaged strip be replaced without replacing the entire floor?
Yes, and this is the biggest advantage of the plank system compared with traditional carpet: you can lift only the damaged plank and replace it with a matching one.
Does strip carpet require special cleaning?
Regular vacuuming is enough, and a soiled plank can be washed individually with water and mild soap, then reinstalled after it dries completely.
Is strip carpet suitable for high-traffic areas?
It suits normal home use in rooms and offices, but for very high-traffic areas darker shades are preferable as they hide signs of wear better.
How many strips do I need for a 12-square-meter room?
That depends on the size of the single plank; you can calculate the number by dividing the room area by the plank area and adding 5-10% as waste for edge cuts.
